It’s getting spooky in the Children’s Room! Saturday November 4th from 10-11:30am, kids and their families can tour our spooky tunnel, play frightful games, and make a ghostly craft.
A great reason to wear those costumes one more time.
Families join us Saturday, October 14th from 10-11:30 for our annual Fall Festival, this year PUMPKIN themed! We will have pumpkin painting, pumpkin games, and pumpkin stories. Sure to be fun for the entire family.
The Library will be opening late this Wednesday October 25th to accommodate staff training. Amended hours that day will be from 1 pm to 5 pm. Thank you for your understanding.
Fossil Day on Thursday October 12th 4 pm- 7:45 pm, is a FREE drop-in and mingle event, open to all ages. Bring your own fossils to share with others or to ask the experts about. Don’t have any fossils? Come enjoy what others bring and listen to the experts as they present. Families and students are encouraged to attend and explore the science of Paleontology! Help bring our Maritime month to a close as we celebrate music, culture, and women’s roles in maritime history. Thank you again to the Library Friends of Oak Bluffs and to Gordon Goodwin’s family for their dedication to our unique coastal location.

Saturday, Septmber 30th the Coast Guard is bringing a boat to the library to teach children and their families about boats and boat safety from 10:30-12:30. For older children, there will be a soap “scrimshaw” craft in the program room from 10-11:30. Younger ones are welcome to do our maritime scavenger hunt all day long! Sure to be a boatload of fun for the entire family.
Due to the oncoming tropical storm, we are postponing tonight’s program: Nat Benjamin’s Sail to Haiti. We plan to reschedule the event to an evening in October.
For now, the library plans to remain open. Tonight’s pajama-friendly Family Night at 6:30 in the children’s room will still take place. Please see NOAA’s website for up-to-date storm warnings and watches. Although we may miss the brunt of the storm, be cautious of high winds, coastal flooding, and potential power outages.. Stay safe!
