MVALP logoWant to take community English classes on the island? Martha’s Vineyard Adult Learning Program is at the High School in Oak Bluffs. Students can sign up in August on their website (www.mvalp.com). Testing for placement begins in September and classes start at the end of September. Classes are three nights per week – Tues, Weds, Thurs-and run September through March. 

 

MassLinks education LogoLooking for online ESOL learning or Adult Basic Education? Mass Links is a new program designed to educate adults using a flexible online learning model. Admissions are rolling, classes are offered at different levels and take place in the evening. They do not require proof of residency to enroll. MIRA – Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Coalition Headquartered in Boston, MIRA is committed to running Citizenship Clinics, offering free or low cost legal advice, and partnering with other agencies to offer support and information to immigrants and refugees.  MIRA-Coalizão de Imigrantes e Refugiados de Massachusetts – Com sede em Boston, a MIRA está comprometida em administrar Clínicas de Cidadania, oferecendo consultoria jurídica gratuita ou de baixo custo e em parceria com outras agências para oferecer suporte e informações a imigrantes e refugiados.

 

As a recipient of a Library Science Technology Act (LSTA) grant, awarded by Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), the Oak Bluffs Library has been improving our citizenship and English Language Learning services over the last two years.

The improved Citizenship Corner and English Learning program were completed in Fall 2020. The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) is supported by federal funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
