Intro to Beanstack: A PDF with brief instructions on how to sign up, log your reading, and earn prizes!

The Oak Bluffs Public Library’s Summer Reading Program begins Monday, June 29th! Our program helps to motivate children to read, maintain their reading skills during the summer months, and develop positive attitudes toward reading and books.

This year, kids ages 12-18 have the choice of signing up for our general Summer Reading Program, or their own program called Battle of the Books.

Battle of the Books offers two separate reading lists that participants can choose from: Middle Grade or Young Adult (see books below). Participants will read on their own or form a small team and read as many of the six books on the list as they can by the end of the summer.

In August, the Martha’s Vineyard young adult librarians will host a trivia event, quizzing readers on each book. Each book will have five questions.

Readers ages 12-18 can receive their summer reading t-shirt after reading two books this summer (either from the reading lists or books that are just right for the reader). Readers can log their books read using our web-based summer reading service Beanstack.

First, second, and third place winners of the trivia event will receive a gift card to Bunch of Grapes!

Middle Grade Reading List Trivia Event: Friday, August 21st

Young Adult Reading List Trivia Event: Friday, August 28th
