Intro to Beanstack: A PDF with brief instructions on how to sign up, log your reading, and earn prizes!

The Oak Bluffs Public Library’s Summer Reading Program begins Monday, June 29th! Our program helps to motivate children to read, maintain their reading skills during the summer months, and develop positive attitudes toward reading and books. This year, we are using a web-based summer reading program called Beanstack.

Our program requires nine hours of reading, and book titles and minutes are recorded each time you read. For every three hours of reading, children can receive a prize.

At three hours: children receive a raffle ticket for the grand prize,

At six hours: this year, we’re asking readers to create a drawing, painting, sculpture, dance, or other creative work and drop it off at the library or send it via email. We encourage this piece of work to be an inspiration from a summer reading book that was read. The library will display these works in the windows for passersby to view, and there will also be a virtual gallery to browse on the library’s website!

At nine hours: children receive a summer reading t-shirt and their second raffle ticket.

After that, for every three hours receive an additional raffle ticket.

Grand Prize: If we randomly draw your raffle ticket at the end of the summer, you will receive a school backpack full of about a dozen books selected just for you!
