Shellfishing lesson @ First bridge

Get out into Sengekontacket Pond and learn how to Quahog! The library will have limited equipment available to share, or you can bring your own. Learn about local shellfishing limits, licenses, equipment and techniques. Program will be facilitated by Emma Green-Beach, OB Selectperson and Director of MV Shellfish Group, and librarian, Jonathan, who has been fishing these waters for more than two decades! All ages welcome, although parents with younger children must be with them at all times. Equipment is sharp and there are water hazards.

Meet at the First Bridge, off of Seaview Avenue/ Beach Rd. (by Island Spirit Kayak Kiosk). Wear watershoes or shoes that can get wet, clothes that can get wet and other outerwear, as necessary, in case it is raining. We will only reschedule if wind or lightening make the water unsafe. Check website and facebook or call the library if you are unsure.

No experience necessary. No permit necessary to participate in program. No need to register.
