Poetry Drop-in classes: where we read and discuss two or more poems, and then use those poems as models for in-class writing exercises (which are then read out loud but that is optional). Artists have their life drawing classes—why can’t writers have a similar kind of thing?
Poetry Drop In is geared for everyone, beginners and those who have been writing for a while. They typically last an hour and a half.

Donald Nitchie has an MFA in poetry from Columbia. His book of poems Driving Lessons was published in 2008. His poems have been published in local periodicals, and he has occasionally led writing workshops on the Vineyard since the late 1980s. Donald Nitchie has a poetry collection coming out in late 2019 entitled “Places of Refuge from the Coming Collapse” from Finishing Line Press.Justen Ahren is a poet, photographer, musician and writing workshop facilitator. He’s had two published collections of poetry, A Strange Catechism and A Machine for Remembering. In 2007 he founded Noepe Center for Literary Arts to provide writers with time and space to write. In 2013 he started the Italy Writing Retreat in Orvieto, Italy, which he leads. Ahren was West Tisbury, Massachusetts Poet Laureate from 2013-2016 and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts Poet Laureate from 2017-2019. There will be a book launch for A Machine for Remembering at Featherstone on Sunday, May 19 at 6 pm
