Dementia Friends – Changing the way we think, talk and act about dementia

November 6, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

There are over 130,000 people living with dementia in Massachusetts. All too often, people with dementia experience loneliness and social exclusion. By coming together, we can make sure that people living with dementia are understood, included and feel a part of their communities. Dementia Friends is a social action movement developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom. Massachusetts is one of the first U.S. states to launch the Dementia Friends program. It aims to give people an understanding of dementia and the small things we can all do to make a difference for people living with dementia in our communities. Business owners: you are one of thousands in Massachusetts who provide a service to community members. Some of your customers are people living with dementia and many others may develop dementia in the future. They and their family and friend caregivers want to continue using your business. By learning about dementia and getting tips for one-to-one interactions, you can be prepared to support a customer who is living with dementia and positively impact their experience. You can make a difference. As a trained Dementia Friends Champion, Mary will deliver a one hour Information Session.
