Available Martha’s Vineyard Library Services

We are committed to the health and safety of our staff and the public. All Martha’s Vineyard public libraries have developed an island-wide library plan to resume library services. Working closely with our local Boards of Health, we will follow local and professional guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Available Services
Contactless Pickup Service
Beginning the week of June 15 2020, contactless hold pickup service began at all island libraries.

At Oak Bluffs, hold pickup will be available from 12pm-4pm Tuesday through Friday and 10am-1pm on Saturday. Place holds online through the CLAMS catalog or call (508) 693-9433 for assistance in finding books on the shelves for pickup. Book Returns & Delivery
Book drops reopened in early to mid-June 2020 according to the chart above. Due dates were extended and no fines will be assessed.
Both our on-island and off-island library delivery services resumed in June 2020. Patrons can order library materials from any CLAMS library.

Getting and using your library card
You can use your library card while we’re closed to place holds in the CLAMS catalog. If you need assistance with an expired card or a PIN number, call us at (508) 693-9433 or email us at oakb_mail@clamsnet.org. Don’t have a card? Apply for a virtual library card online to access Overdrive / Libby right away.
Online collections and programs
With your library card, you’ll have instant access to tens of thousands of ebooks and audiobooks through Overdrive and Hoopla, as well as movies, TV and other media through Kanopy and Hoopla, and many more free online resources, including Mango Languages. We are also beginning to offer a few online programs – visit our calendar for upcoming events.
Unavailable or Limited Services
Building access
Library buildings are slowly re-opening. Oak Bluffs is currently open for Express services Tues & Thurs 10-6, Weds & Fri 10-5, and Sat 10-4.
In-Person Assistance
Library staff are available to assist patrons in person in a very limited capacity, but can offer more in-depth remote help. Call us at (508) 693-9433 or email us at oakb_mail@clamsnet.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Events and meeting room reservations
All in-person public events, public meetings, and private meetings have been cancelled until further notice. We do not know when we will reopen; when we do reopen, we do not expect to be open at full capacity right away. It is better for everyone to make reservations when we know for certain that we can accommodate all expectations of groups who want to meet in our spaces and that we can ensure their safety.
Book Donations
We cannot accept your library donations yet. Please keep your materials donations (books, DVDs, CDs) until we’re able to take them.
Tax assistance
The library usually hosts an AARP tax assistance program, but this service will not be held in the library in 2021. For assistance, please contact your Council on Aging. Oak Bluffs COA: Rosemary @ 508-693-4509, ext. 3 or to email at rcogliano@oakbluffsma.gov
Tax forms are available for contactless hold pick-up. Please call the library to schedule. Forms available (until we run out): 1040, Mass Resident and Mass Non-resident instructions and forms.
