The Oak Bluffs Public Library is proud to offer a platform for artists of all backgrounds to showcase their work. We invite individuals, groups, and organizations to display their original art exhibits, contributing to the vibrant cultural life of our community.
Exhibit Goals:
- Support local cultural and artistic activities
- Encourage appreciation for the arts
- Present a diverse range of art forms, collections, and displays
- Foster intellectual, aesthetic, and creative growth
- Reach new audiences and non-traditional library patrons
Eligibility and Criteria:
Artists wishing to display their work must meet the following criteria:
- The work must be original and the artist’s own creation.
- The exhibit should be of interest to the public, showcasing artistic expression, historical or regional relevance, or reflecting an influential movement or national culture.
- Exhibits may align with special events, anniversaries, or holidays, or complement other library and community events.
- Artwork must be suitable for public display and able to be easily installed in the downstairs meeting room or other library spaces.
Application Process: If you are interested in displaying your work at the Oak Bluffs Public Library, please complete the Art Exhibit Application. The application can be submitted online via the link below or in person at the Circulation Desk. All exhibits are subject to approval by the Programming Coordinator and Library Director.
Please note: The library does not endorse the content or views expressed in the artwork.
Artist Responsibilities:
- Artists are responsible for hanging and removing their own work, following the library’s installation guidelines.
- The library is not responsible for any damage or loss to artwork during setup, display, or removal.
- The library does not permit the sale of art during the exhibit. Artists may share contact information for direct purchases after the exhibit concludes.
