Join Oak Bluffs Public Library and the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group at the Hughes Hatchery (the former state lobster hatchery at the end of Shirley Ave in Oak Bluffs) for shoreside netting and a shellfish hatchery tour! Scientists will be on hand to help identify marine life and discuss the importance of bivalve shellfish for coastal ecology and local foodways. Nets and buckets will be provided, participants should wear water shoes and be prepared to get wet! 

For children ages 4+. Parents are responsible for children at all times, especially around open water on the beach.  Due to limited parking at the hatchery, families who are driving should pre-register by emailing mlynch@clamsnet.org or calling the library at 508-693-9433.
