Navy Men- archives from USS Constitution Museum

September 17, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 8:30 am

Listen to Carl Herzog, Public Historian at the USS Constitution Museum in Boston, as he shares one of his favorite objects in the archives. Lt. Peter Turner’s Watch, Quarter, & Station Bill describes life at sea and the details of the navy men onboard Old Ironsides. Also shown is an early daguerreotype, believed to be from a voyage to Brazil. Ending as a Commander, Turner’s Navy career spanned much of the mid-19th Century aboard many ships, both near and far. For more information after the video, visit the Museum’s website for this well-researched bit of Massachusetts’ maritime history.
