Bike/Pedestrian Safety Virtual Presentation

AAA Northeast’s Bike and Pedestrian Safety presentation for children and families gives important tips for staying safe when walking or biking.
By the end of the presentation the participants will be able to:
Discuss the benefits of walking and biking
Identify the characteristics of safe places to walk and bike
Demonstrate how to correctly wear a bike helmet
Understand how the bike helmet protects the brain and how important it is to wear it in
activities like biking, skateboarding, rollerblading, and riding on a scooter
Recognize the importance of visibility for both pedestrians and bicyclists
Learn how to walk or bike around traffic (i.e. crossing in safe locations, walking on the left side
of the road in leu of a sidewalk, and following the rules of the road)
Describe both safe and unsafe behaviors for pedestrians and bicyclists
This presentation does fulfill the following National Health Education Standards:
4.5.1 Demonstrate effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills to enhance health.
5.5.4 Predict the potential outcomes of each option when making a health-related decision.
7.2.2 Demonstrate behaviors that avoid or reduce health risks.
7.5.1 Identify responsible personal health behaviors.
7.5.3 Demonstrate a variety of behaviors to avoid or reduce health risks.
