Author Talk with Sherry Sidoti: A Smoke and a Song

September 8, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Author Talk with local author, Sherry Sidoti about her recently released memoir, A Smoke And A Song

Is freedom found in “letting go,” as the spiritual teachers (and her mother) insist—or is it found by digging our heels deeper into the earth and holding on to our humanness? A Smoke and a Song is Sherry’s story of her quest to make meaning from the memories homed in her body. Told with tenacity, tenderness, and wry humor, Sherry stumbles towards self-actualization, spiritual awakening—and, despite it all, love. This is a story steeped in art and spirituality that explores the complexities of transgenerational maternal bonds, attachment, loss, and leaning into our wounds to find the wisdom.

This event is a conversation with Sherry Sidoti moderated by Moira Convey Silva asking the questions what is memory and what is “truth”? What do we choose to tell, what do we leave out, and why? How do we weigh the risks with the rewards of telling our stories?

Moira is a mother, writing instructor, consultant and award-winning writer. Moira’s features and essays appear in the Boston Globe, Women’s Running, and Taproot. She is the co-founder of Covid Monologues MV: A Project to Nourish, Inspire & Connect.
