Artist Reception – Michael Johnson “INKWELL FOLKS!”

July 16 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

“INKWELL FOLKS!”

An on-going long term photo project by photographer Michael Johnson wherein he is creating artistic photographic images of the many diverse folks who do their thing at our historic Inkwell Beach, with the historic Inkwell Beach sign, Whether they are longtime generational visitors or day-trippers here for hours, they contribute to the history/culture of this place. This series is created to be an enlightening and enlivening celebratory documentary photo collection to share with future generations so they may see some of the folks who have enjoyed and enriched this historic place. I render this series in “sepia tone” to give a warmth, timelessness and slightly nostalgic feel to the images.

Born in Harlem, N.Y.C., U.S.A. – Raised in N.J. – Life long artist – 50+ years Martha’s Vineyard resident/part timer – Long time San Francisco resident – 8 years seasonal AZ. resident – Photographer of everything from Martha’s Vineyard and San Francisco’s scenery, life and culture to Arizona desert wild horses to Sumo wrestling in Japan and everything in between. He delved into photography on MV in its “old days”  and began selling his photography on the streets of SF in the S.F. Street Artists Program in 2001. He graduated to running a one-man photography gallery during summer seasons on Martha’s Vineyard Island, which he has done for 15 seasons, and has become one of M.V.’s preeminent artists. During the winters he migrates between San Francisco and Arizona creating and selling his photography in those locales as well.
