STEM Hands-On Workshops
October 13, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
OBPL is proud to partner with Chris Connors, Computer Science and Art teacher at MVRHS, along with student members of the Innovation Club at MVRHS. This four-week workshop can be taken as a sequence, or you can take one at a time.
Week 1
Scrappy Circuits
Using a tea candle and office supplies, we will build electric circuits. These circuits can be combined with craft materials, and can be extended in lots of exciting ways.
Week 2
DIY Sensors
Building on the Scrappy Circuits projects, we will make devices that can sense environmental input. These sensors can be used in electric circuits, and they can also be used to create computer input with MicroBit and Makey Makey.
Week 3
Design for 3D Printing
In this workshop, we will introduce the basics of design for 3D printing. Participants will learn how to create and combine shapes with Tinkercad, a web browser based 3D editing software package from AutoDesk.
Week 4
3D Printing
Participants will learn the basics of 3D printing original shapes from TinkerCad designs, and others found online. We will experiment with FDM Fused Deposition Modeling, and Resin printing. There will be a 3D printer at the library after the workshop.
