A seasonal resident of Eastham and 2020 graduate of William & Mary, Diana Haemer has been writing poetry since she was 16. Her poems focus on the topics of nature & the environment, growing up, and current events. Diana’s work has been published in many literary magazines (The Sucharnochee Review, Short Édition, and William & Mary’s The Gallery), and her poetry has been featured on Washington University in St. Louis’s Life/Lines blog and in Local Gems Press’s Tea-ku: Poems About Tea. Diana’s first poetry collection The Sands of Time was published in December 2020 by Local Gems Press. Sensing, her second book, was published this June by Atmosphere Press and was met with critical acclaim by three editorial reviews. This fall Diana will begin graduate school at University of East Anglia in England where she hopes to combine her loves for marine science and English into a career as a science journalist and creative writer. Her author talk will focus on the dual themes of nature and the environment and aims to highlight the importance of ocean & environmental sciences in today’s world.
