Book Talk & Signing: NYT Best-Selling Author Sunny Hostin
August 16 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Irish Black Alumni on the Vineyard in partnership with the Oak Bluffs Public Library are thrilled to welcome three-time Emmy award-winning author, lawyer (ND JD ’94), and television host Sunny Hostin. With her New York Times bestselling Summer Beach series, Hostin aims to make beach reads more inclusive and spotlight historically Black communities. The third and final installment in the series, Summer on Highland Beach, is set in the oldest Black resort community in America, founded in the 1800s by Frederick Douglass. Charisse R. Lillie, businesswoman, attorney, and lecturer on issues of Diversity and Corporate Governance, joins Hostin to moderate a lively discussion centering on the novel and Hostin’s mission to celebrate family, friendship and community and to remind us of the importance of the legacies of our collective past and finding one’s way in the world. After the discussion, Hostin will sign books that will be available on site courtesy of Bunch of Grapes Bookstore in Vineyard Haven.
