"Beloved" – February’s Book Discussion

The book discussion group discussed the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, during it’s February – Black History Month meeting. The book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1988, and is regarded by some to be the best work of Fiction over the past 25 years.

Everyone enjoyed Morrison’s writing style and especially the use of symbols in the story. The atrocities of slavery in America and it’s effects on society and Black slaves were vividly described in the book, and these aspects played a major role in the group’s discussion.
