Book Discussion Group – The Poisonwood Bible

We had another great book discussion group meeting revolving around “The Poisonwood Bible”, by Barbara Kingsolver. Fantastic Fiction’s website contains a brief biography about the author, as well as information about some of her other popular novels.

While many interesting and provacative issues were raised in the book, one of the main themes of this book was family relationships. Here is a link to the Hennepin County Library’s suggestions for more books to read about family relationships!

Finally, it was decided that there will be no book discussion group meeting in the month of December due to the craziness of the holiday season!

We will meet again in January (see the library’s events calendar for the exact dates) to discuss “The Constant Princess” by Philippa Gregory, books will be available at the beginning of the month at the library’s main Circulation desk. for anybody that is interested in attending!

Happy Birthday Oak Bluffs Library!

At the end of October the new Oak Bluffs Public Library building turned one year old! We opened on October 29, 2005 and the building was dedicated on November 5, of 2005.

In the lobby of the library there is a display of library pictures, as well as a blank book for patrons to write a message to the library staff and tell about their favorite features of the new facilities!

Please come see our display and say hello…..and don’t forget to check out a great book, movie, or cd while you are here 🙂

We had fun at the Halloween Parade!

Check out the fun! See our photos of some of the people who came to the Halloween Parade. We paraded about the library and yelled, “La LUNA!” at the moon while we had our walk in the dark. We enoyed TREATS in the Programs Room after the parade, juice, candy, cookies, cupcakes and baby crackers. We hope you can come to our next fun filled event.
